I love this new template from @adobecreativecloud. I love this new template from @adobecreativecloud. My secondary students created one for themselves (using character traits they chose for themselves on the inner circle and traits their classmates suggested for them on the outer circle) while I created one for each of my elementary students. I printed each for our bulletin board in the hallway, “I am more than a test score!” They turned out great! #eslteacherlife #esl #ell #eslteacher #ellteacher #esol #emergentbilinguals #integratingtech #techintheclassroom #adobeeducreative #morethanatestscore
Gratulerer med dagen alle sammen! Norway’s Const Gratulerer med dagen alle sammen! Norway’s Constitution was written on this day in 1814. We celebrate this day with children’s parades (marching through the streets, waving flags and singing songs) and eating polse (hot dogs) and ice cream. #syttendemai #norway #ancestralhomeland #gratulerermeddagen
A little #wordmapping with my #emergentbilinguals. A little #wordmapping with my #emergentbilinguals. I have only recently discovered the #scienceofreading approach but have had success using it alongside other approaches with my students. Posted @withregram • @landpalestine Shireen Abu Posted @withregram • @landpalestine Shireen Abu Akel was shot dead earlier today by Israeli forces while reporting on their raid on the occupied Palestinian city of Jenin.

Shireen was wearing a press vest, which is a recognized symbol and way to identify her as press and provide a level of protection. She was also wearing a helmet. Shireen's colleagues and eyewitnesses described that she was directly targeted by an Israeli sniper and shot with precision.

Shireen was a well-known Al Jazeera journalist that so many of us grew up watching as she covered the news on the ground in Palestine for decades. She was a household name for Palestinians across the diaspora, glued to their TVs to know what is happening in the homeland in times of crisis.

The fact that Israeli forces can kill such a famous reporter with impunity speaks volumes about state of what's happening in Palestine. Not even those trying to shed light on the situation are safe.

My #emergentbilinguals finished up our #podcast un My #emergentbilinguals finished up our #podcast unit for 2021-22 earlier this week. I chose #Limetown - a fictional mystery in the style of an historic radio drama. The students loved it and were delighted with the button memento I made for them. It was a fun way to wrap up the school year while also keeping them engaged. #ell #esol #esl

I am so proud of this young man. He has worked so I am so proud of this young man. He has worked so hard on developing his piano skills this year, regularly playing over four hours each day. He has recently posted a recording he prepared for the Level X Syllabus adjudication later this week. Please listen, like, and above all, subscribe to his YouTube (he’s eager to get a custom URL). I’ll post the link to the video in the comments. #piano #omtasyllabuslevel10 #omtasyllabus
I have been spending a day or two each week sortin I have been spending a day or two each week sorting through dozens of boxes of photos and letters that belonged to my in-laws. It has been so rewarding to find images of everyone; images neither my spouse nor I have ever seen. These are of my father-in-law (my mother-in-law is also in the first one). Once I get them all separated by family group, I will begin the task of identifying them more thoroughly and putting albums together to tell their stories. #historicalphotos #genealogy
Yesterday my friend and I took advantage of my day Yesterday my friend and I took advantage of my day off to go on a hike. The weather was beautiful after weeks of rain and hail. I had expected the vernal pools in the dunes would prohibit us from reaching the shore, but we were able to circle around on high ground. We were surprised by the number of sand dollars we found washed up on the beach. We also did a little geocaching. It was a great day. #earthday #oregoncoast #oregondunes
