Welcome to Finishing Strong ~ a weekly link-up dedicated to families homeschooling middle & high school kids. Each Wednesday, moms just like you share their best tips, encouragement, advice, and more for teaching older kids at home.
Finishing Strong is a place for families who are homeschooling middle & high school kids to meet up in order to share tips, encouragement, advice, and more. We know it can be stressful homeschooling teens, which is why we’ve built this community.
It is brought to you each Wednesday by the ladies at Blog She Wrote, Education Possible, Starts at Eight, and myself.
Featured this week is a series of posts about American Art History that I wrote recently for Bright Ideas Press. All ten posts have now been published and I know they will be an invaluable resource for those interested in learning more about the history of art in the United States. The first post focuses on the art of our First Nations People and each subsequent post progresses through the eras in our nation’s history.
We hope you’ll take some time to check out the amazing posts that have been shared with us. We are so thankful to all of our readers and contributors who help make Finishing Strong a key resource for everyone homeschooling through the middle & high school years.
Our 6th Grade Curriculum from Mother of 3 who blogs at Our Unschooling Journey Through Life was the most clicked upon post shared this past week. She outlines each of the texts she will be using with her son.
Last week I shared a favorite post about high school electives. Today, I share a similar post, Getting Creative with High School Electives. I love her vision, “I don’t want to stifle her by forcing her to stick to what the public schools offer. My goal is to help her find classes … that inspire her and get her excited to get up and ‘do school’ every day.”
I struggle daily with a determined young man who would like nothing more than to speed cube all day. Shelly’s post 10 Homeschooling Strategies to Use with Your Resistant Child provides several suggestions for reaching students who are resistant to schooling.
